PQMC Niche Standards

Niche Standards – We’ll Go There With You!

The International Organization of Standardization (ISO) has published over 21,500 standards to date!

You may know the common ones but out there is a whole plethora of niche, upcoming, industry-unique standards and accreditations.

PQMC has a particular passion (and track record) for learning and applying unfamiliar standards:

In 2008, one of our clients who specialised in design and commissioning of biofuel refineries was told their system needed a new compliance for the American market. While we were working on their QMS, we changed the scope to ensure the system met BQ9000 as well. At that point, nobody in Australia (including us) had heard of this standard before. PQMC learned it and rolled it out.

In (2013), PQMC was approached by a client who wanted to be certified for AS5377 (E-Waste Recycling). We discovered there was no certification program available and so developed the program with the certification body and in conjunction with the client.

Today, AS3800 is a commonly known safety standard for electrical equipment used in explosive environments. Back in the mid-1990s it was unknown to most. PQMC had a client that repaired and overhauled electric motors and needed this certification. With the exception of certification bodies, no management consultant knew how to go about it at the time. PQMC picked the standard up, designed the forms and wrote all the instructions – all from scratch.

In the early 1990s, PQMC consultants were the first batch to be invited by the certification body to be trained in Disability Services Standards so that we could help companies put up their systems. As the standards were released, we went on to set up Disability Services Standards for more than 30 providers in Victoria.

So…

If you have a new standard you’d like to get certified in, we’d love to hear from you!
